Ladies Lunch: Celebration of Blood Orange

Had some friends over for lunch last week and since I had been stockpiling blood oranges from our Frog Hollow CSA box, I decided to build the lunch menu around this springtime fruit.

Our Ladies-Who-Lunch Menu:

  • Potato, Leek and Green Garlic Soup from Ina Garten’s Back to Basics
  • Blood Orange and Bearss Lime Escabéche (I added avocado and left out bell pepper; also used Bearss lime juice instead of lemon juice)
  • Wild arugula, lettuce and fennel salad with walnuts and citrus vinaigrette
  • Sliced roast beef, turkey, mortadella and salami
  • Assorted cheeses
  • Organic Strawberries
  • Blood Orange Olive Oil Cake from Smitten Kitchen
