We are getting close to the end of our CSA season with Two Small Farms, which means figuring out where to find my fresh, local, organic produce. Fortunately, we have a few Farmer’s Markets which stay open year-round so I am sure to find good sources. I also have luck shopping at Sigona’s and Milk Pail Dairy, so hopefully the next 4 months (until Two Small Farms starts up again in March) will not be too painful!

Our box this week contained lots of soup stuff, which sounds like a good way to use the beans I picked up at the Rancho Gordo booth at the Ferry Building on Saturday morning. We received Leeks, Lettuce, Curly Parsley, Chantenay Carrots, Cipollini Onions, Green Onions, Cameo Apples and Sweet Potatoes. Here is my menu plan for the week of Monday, November 9:
Sunday: Grilled steak, roasted Cipollini Onions, fresh bread, salad, Warren pears and blue cheese for dessert (I know a good bottle of red will be opened tonight)
Monday: Minestrone with Basil Pesto, bread, salad
Tuesday: Curried black bean and sweet potatoes (I will use Good Mother Stallard beans from Rancho Gordo), grilled chicken, salad
Wednesday: Leftovers
Thursday: Roasted Tomato Soup with grilled cheese sandwiches, sliced apples and pears
Friday: Take-out and movie night

Another CSA you might want to check with to see if they are still providing boxes over the winter is J&P Organics (http://www.jporganics.com/services.php) I use another CSA regularly (eating with the seasons) but if we are having company or plan on making a lot of things I’ll also get a box from J&P–it is a no contract CSA and you you pay after you receive the box. I pick mine up on Stanford’s campus. They are also great about substitutions (ie, no lettuce but extra fruit).

wow, this is a great resource, thank you. They even have shares with eggs! This might be the ticket for the winter months.
Thanks for sharing!
