Filed under My side of the bed
In our CSA box this week, we received a gorgeous head of cauliflower. My normal method of cooking this vegetable involves tossing the florets along with pieces of carrot, in olive oil in a baking dish. Then I add 4 chicken legs with thighs, sprinkle the whole dish with cumin, coriander and S&P, and roast in the oven for 1.15 hours at 425F. A great dish in the middle of winter, when you are cold and need a cozy dish.
However, it is spring! And I needed a salad for a Memorial Day picnic, so I found a recipe at Epicurious and modified it just a bit to use more in-season items:
CAULIFLOWER, WHITE BEAN, AND FETA SALAD
1/3 cup olive oil
1 teaspoon minced fresh rosemary
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
2 1/2 teaspoons finely grated lemon peel
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 medium head of cauliflower, trimmed, cut into small florets (about 3 cups)
1 (15-ounce) can white beans (such as Great Northern or navy beans), drained
1 small head of cabbage or endive, halved, then thinly sliced crosswise
1 tablespoon chopped fresh scallions
2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese (about 3 ounces)
Combine oil and rosemary in small saucepan. Stir over medium heat just until fragrant, about 1 minute. Cool.
Whisk lemon juice, vinegar, lemon peel, salt, and pepper in small bowl.
Combine cauliflower, beans, endive, chives, parsley, and rosemary oil in medium bowl; toss. Mix in cheese. Add lemon juice mixture and toss to coat. Season salad with salt and pepper.

On April 29th, I picked up my package of bees – essentially a box with 30,000 bees plus a queen. And on Thursday night, May 1st, we installed the bees in my backyard hive!
Make sure the hive is ready, I removed a couple of the frames. The super is stacked atop 4 bricks. I wonder if I might have to move that around because of ants, however….

Make sure the smoker is going…1 sheet of newspaper, plus a handful of pine needles.
Take the feeding can that came with the package out – oh, did I mention, do this at night, or when it is cool. The bees will be a little quieter, a lot more docile.
Give them a little smoke, and then shake, shake, shake – get
those bees into the hive. When they are all in, nestle the queen in her cage between two frames (leave her in the cage) and put a second empty super on top, put the feeding can in upside down, and put the lid on the whole thing. Leave undisturbed for 48 hours to let the queen settle in. After 48 hours, check and see how the bees are with the queen. Depending on their mood (and yours!) you might decide to leave her another 24 hours in her cage. Don’t wait much longer, or the cage might become part of the hive!

In an effort to be clever, I decided that I should move my blog out of the subdomain and into the main domain (can you tell that I don’t really understand what I am talking about?).
I contacted my service provider and it was determined that a complete reinstall was what I needed.
Sadly, I did not know enough to backup the database, I only pulled off the wp files.
Needless to say, I could not put things back the way I wanted.
And after spending a day working on this, I have decided to rebuild from scratch.
That means all new posts, all new link building, fresh from scratch.
Sounds like home cooking, not too bad….
